A compute bill from a one-minute cron
A one-minute cron produced 147 database transactions per minute with zero user traffic. After resume-backoff and index fixes the load fell to 24, then about 35 with Supply Audit. One-minute crons do not belong on a scale-to-zero database.
CTR is a trap
Click-through rate looks like a quality score on remnant display. On our flights it mostly measured how clicky the inventory was, not whether a person arrived.
Decisions need a revert command
A trafficking change that exists only in someone's head is not reversible. The experiments ledger requires the revert command before the change ships. REVERT is a normal outcome. Applied and never judged is the failure.
Four times we said the seat could not do it
Four capability claims we published as absences after checking one API endpoint. Placement excludes, dayparting, pacing, and schema were all present on a different surface.
OpenAI 429 is not always a rate limit
HTTP 429 is used for both a transient rate limit and a permanently exhausted credit balance. Classify insufficient_quota before you retry. A missing GPT signal still goes to requires_review, never a pass.
OPTIONS, not /fields
Beeswax /rest/v2 object /fields 404s everywhere. DRF OPTIONS on the same object returns actions.POST with the real field metadata, including the 66 bid-modifier targeting keys.
Reporting that doubled spend and paused the fleet
A naive Eastern wall clock stamped as UTC, plus a dedupe key built from the derived hour, inserted duplicate rows. Ten campaigns each gained an extra hour. Summed spend rose from $24.46 to $48.92 and the daily-cap guard paused the fleet. The wallet was not over-debited.
Targeting keys and bid-modifier keys are different lists
This seat's targeting catalog has 50 keys. Bid modifiers have 66, including both clocks. Treating them as one list is how we concluded dayparting did not exist for three months.
The sentence that cost four months
Bidding strategy CPM is not enabled for pacing" is true for strategy CPM. The reach-out line is boilerplate. CPM_PACED exists on this seat and accepts daily even pacing.
We were measuring nothing and reading zero as fine
Creatives carried empty creative_addons. invalid_impressions and viewable_impressions returned zero because nothing was measuring, not because the traffic was clean.
What we learned by buying our own remnant
We bought open-exchange display to characterize supply for customers who advertise to ordinary people. The buy taught us that CTR, empty measurement add-ons, and a handful of domains will lie with a straight face.
Zero clicks that were a field name
Beeswax Reporting delivery clicks must be requested as clicks, plural. click singular is a different field. ad_click_tokens are redirect plumbing, not exchange delivery truth. Corrected June 26, 2026.
