We were measuring nothing and reading zero as fine
Creatives carried empty creative_addons. invalid_impressions and viewable_impressions returned zero because nothing was measuring, not because the traffic was clean.
Published 2026-09-09 · Search job: invalid impressions always zero
Invalid impressions are always zero on this seat when the creative has no vendor add-on. That zero is not a clean-traffic score.
As of 2026-09-05, every campaign Adprime Zero had ever run carried creative_addons: []. Our reporting sync asked for impressions, clicks, and spend. The two fields that grade traffic, invalid_impressions and viewable_impressions, live on the same performance_agg view we already query. Requesting them returned 200 and zeros, because nothing was measuring.
Zero is the default when the tag is missing
Beeswax will happily return invalid_impressions: 0 and viewable_impressions: 0 for a flight that spent real money. The view exists. The columns exist. The vendor is not on the creative, so the columns stay at zero. We read that as "no invalid traffic showed up" for months. It was the same class of error as reading a missing click field as no clicks.
HUMAN FraudSensor is vendor 7 on this seat, active, at $0.05 CPM. Creative add-on 44 is the banner tag. The main adops seat already puts that add-on on its banner creatives. We were not missing a product. We were not attaching the one the seat already offers.
Until that tag is on and the report returns non-zero quality fields, no public Adprime Zero article will say a flight had low fraud. Concentration, implausible CTR, and click-to-page-view are allowed when labeled. IVT rate is not.
The rate we will use once the tag is on
Strict IVT rate is invalid_impressions / impressions. Do not use measurable_invalid_impressions as the numerator. On this seat that field frequently equals almost every impression and produces a nonsense percentage.
Anonymized main-seat brand-name display flights we can cite without naming the advertiser sat at 0.523 percent strict IVT when the traffic was acceptable, and 1.544 percent when they triggered intervention. Click-to-page-view on those same flights sat at 15.85 percent when usable and 3.75 to 6.68 percent when not. Those are operator benchmarks from trafficked campaigns, not invented industry averages.
Why we kept the empty add-on list
Reporting asked for the three columns a dashboard likes. The trafficking path created creatives without add-ons. Nothing in the launch checklist said "attach measurement before you optimize." The June 2026 learning flight was then judged on CTR. CTR is a trap on remnant display. A 0.47 percent flight CTR looks ordinary while seven domains produce two fifths of the clicks.
The trafficking playbook now says the opposite: attach measurement before you change targeting. A campaign you cannot judge is not a cheap test. It is a spend that will teach you the wrong lesson.
If your report shows invalid impressions at zero, look at creative_addons first. Empty list, zero quality fields, 200 from the reporting API: that is a seat that is not measuring. It is not a seat that bought clean inventory.
